Travel Troop Mansion

Our next day trip will be to the Stan Hywet Mansion and Gardens in Akron on October 12th. Completed in 1915, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is the former American Country Estate of F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. The estate features a historic 65-room Tudor Revival Manor House with its original collection of furnishings and antiquities, Gothic Revival Conservatory, Gate Lodge (birthplace of Alcoholics Anonymous) and approximately 70 acres of artistically landscaped grounds and formal gardens. Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is the former estate of the family of F.A. Seiberling, the co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. It is one of the finest examples of Tudor revival architecture and the sixth largest home open to the public in the U.S.
